      I try to include diverse books in all my book lists and now is a great time to share this list of civil rights picture books. Books are a great teaching tool and these are perfect to to start a conversation with your kids about the civil rights movement. Gender equality is more than equal representation, it is strongly tied to women's rights, and often requires policy changes. As of , the global movement for gender equality has not incorporated the proposition of genders besides women and men, or gender identities outside of the gender binary.
